Paint Finishes Guide
The "sheen" of a paint is how reflective the finished wall is. It affects how the wall reads, how it ages, and how easy it is to clean. Here's where each finish actually belongs in a Delhi NCR home.
Matte
Lowest sheenWhere it belongs
Bedroom and living-room ceilings; bedroom walls in low-traffic homes.
Worth knowing
Reads soft and architectural. Hides minor wall imperfections best. Less washable — not ideal where small hands and shoes will land.
Eggshell
Low sheenWhere it belongs
Most living-room and bedroom walls. The everyday default.
Worth knowing
Soft glow, holds up to wiping. The most forgiving choice for a Delhi NCR home where walls see normal daily life.
Satin
Medium sheenWhere it belongs
Kitchen walls, kids' rooms, hallways, stairwells.
Worth knowing
More washable, still discreet. Picks up minor surface unevenness, so prep matters more.
Semi-Gloss
High sheenWhere it belongs
Trims, doors, window frames, kitchen and bathroom woodwork.
Worth knowing
Hard, durable, easy to clean. Reads crisp against a matte or eggshell wall.
Gloss
Highest sheenWhere it belongs
Statement doors, cabinetry, accent joinery.
Worth knowing
Mirror-like. Demands flawless surface prep — every flaw shows. Use intentionally, not by default.
